The BSH are excited to announce the publication of new guidelines: Use of imaging in the management of patients with myeloma.

The guidelines recommend modern cross sectional imaging techniques as a replacement for the skeletal survey and plain radiography for imaging in multiple myeloma.

These recommendations follow on from the NICE Myeloma guideline published in 2016 and the International Myeloma Working Group guidelines that recommend the use of cross sectional imaging.

Dr Guy Pratt, the Haemato-Oncology Task force representative for these guidelines said: ‘Clearly the challenge in the UK is around cost effectiveness, capacity and the expertise to support this. The guideline is for all healthcare professionals with an interest in this area, in particular radiologists. It will hopefully support the implementation of cross sectional imaging in this area.’
