For the last year, the BSH has worked with world-leading researchers at London South Bank University to carry out a major research project to investigate the current state of the haematology workforce, the wellbeing of the multidisciplinary team and how good practice can help the issues facing our workforce This is the most comprehensive study to be undertaken of the whole haematology workforce in the UK.
The increasing demands of the haematology service contribute to the overall pressure experienced by haematology professionals. In addition, staffing levels have been a defining factor amongst professionals in providing adequate service delivery, meeting patients' needs and the general wellbeing of the workforce. However, as the recent Darzi review highlighted the expansion of the workforce has not been having an impact on workforce wellbeing.
The webinar will present the main findings of this major piece of work, including an analysis of the demand for haematological services and the workforce supply to meet this need. The study reports on issues affecting workforce wellbeing and offers a definition of liaison haematology.
We invite all our members and haematology professionals to join this pressing conversation. Join Professors Alison Leary and Adele Stewart-Lord from the School of Health and Social Care at London South Bank University who will present the main findings to be introduced by former BSH President, Dr Josh Wright (NHS Emeritus Consultant Haematologist), and current BSH President, Dr Sue Pavord (Consultant Haematologist, Oxford University Hospitals NHS FT).
Join us on 10 October at 5 pm to contribute to our ongoing discussion around how the BSH can best support and advocate for the haematology community.
