Fibrinogen assays are used in the investigation of haemorrhagic states or in laboratory testing for haemorrhagic disorders. This guideline reviews the clinical utility of fibrinogen assays, and makes recommendations on which assays to employ, and practical aspects of assay performance, including assay design and pre-analytical variables.
