BSH genomics grants are designed to support members of the Society who wish to pursue a research or service development project directly relevant to the application of genomics within haematology.

Award Summary

Five grants of up to £10,000
Who can apply? All BSH Members
Eligibility  All projects must be undertaken at a UK institution
Insurance/ Legal Requirements A plan for appropriate ethical and/or institutional review board approvals should be detailed in the application and this must be in place before the award is transferred to the host institution.
Required Documents
  • a project plan
  • a detailed budget
  • previous relevant research
  • short curriculum vitae of the member
  • a letter of support from the Head of Service/Supervisor
Reporting Documents A project report must be submitted within two years of receiving the award, including details of follow‑on funding. Recipients are expected to submit an abstract to the ASM. Reports may be showcased on the BSH website.
Deadline and Review

1 December 2026, Outcome expected within 20 weeks of the closing date

 (Turnaround times are estimates. Our grant reviewers are volunteers, and this can occasionally lead to delays in the review process.)

 

Please Note:

Membership applications from individuals outside the UK can take up to six weeks to process. If you are applying for membership in order to apply for this funding and you do not work for the NHS or are not studying or working at a UK university, please submit your membership application at least six weeks before the grant deadline.

For applicants who work for the NHS or study/work at a UK university, we aim to process membership applications within three working days.

All applications will be reviewed by BSH's Laboratory Special Interest Group before final approval by BSH's Research and Grants Committee. Candidates may be asked to provide further information or attend a short online interview as part of the review process.
