The BSH Board has established the Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) SIG to facilitate the education, training and professional development of doctors, nurses, biomedical scientists, and other healthcare professionals who have a role and interest in the understanding, diagnosis and management of patients with MDS and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative overlap syndromes.

The SIG will build on the work of the former UK MDS Forum as a key BSH network for scientists and healthcare professionals to exchange information, share ideas and opinions and promote excellence in the care of MDS patients.

These objectives will be delivered through the promotion of the roles of the BSH and MDS SIG, annual scientific and educational meetings under the guidance and agreement of the Programme Committee, contribution to guidelines and providing expert advice to other relevant professional bodies such as RCPath and NICE in conjunction with the BSH Office.

The MDS SIG aims to become a UK-wide platform for providing expert support and advice to colleagues caring for patients with MDS and related conditions.
