BSH Conference Awards
Funding of up to £1,500 per person available
The BSH Conference Awards provide financial support to eligible members attending or presenting at haematology-related conferences. These awards are designed to help cover travel, accommodation, and registration costs.
Who Can Apply
We offer support for:
- Members presenting at international meetings (excluding ASH and BSH Annual Scientific Meeting – see below).
- BSH members working for the NHS who want to attend BSH face-to-face events.
The BSH events below qualify for the award.
- 2026 BSH Paediatric Special Interest Group meeting, Friday 23 January 2026
- New Consultant's day, Wednesday 25 March 2026
All applications will be reviewed by the Research and Grants Committee after the deadline of 31 January 2026.
We particularly encourage applications from:
- Nurse practitioners
- Clinical scientists
- Biomedical scientists
- Academic scientists
- PhD students
Important Exclusions
Please note, this award does not fund attendance at:
- BSH Annual Scientific Meeting. For support to attend this event, please see our Annual Scientific Meeting Scholarships page.
- ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition. If you are submitting an abstract to ASH, please apply for the ASH-BSH Abstract Achievement Award.
Application Timing
- Provisional awards may be granted pending abstract acceptance. Funding will be released once confirmation is received.
- Retrospective applications are accepted for events held up to two months prior to the application deadline. Please retain all receipts and refer to the eligible expenses below.
Award Details
Deadlines: 31 January and 31 July annually. We aim to get back to applicants with the outcome of their application within four weeks of each deadline.
Maximum value: £1,500
Availability: Minimum of seven scholarships per round
Eligible expenses
UK travel:
Accommodation: up to £120 per night (£190 in Central London)
Standard return train or economy flight tickets
Subsistence: up to £45 per day
International travel:
Refer to UK Government subsistence and accommodation rates

For BSH Events (UK Specialist Trainees working in the NHS only)

For Non-BSH Events

- Letter of support from your supervisor or institution

- Confirmation of abstract acceptance (or submission, if pending)
- Expected date of abstract decision
