Advances in haemato-oncology diagnostics have been dramatic over the last years, but unfortunately relatively few trainees get real hands-on experience with these techniques. That means they do not always have a deep understanding of the techniques involved and may not appreciate some of the subtleties and pitfalls of the complex tests they need to interpret in daily clinical practice.
To address this gap, we decided to set up a course to provide an overview of advanced molecular diagnostics for haematological malignancies, including time to work hands-on with raw data under the supervision of experts.
As well as developing your knowledge and experience in this exciting area, we hope this will give you a great opportunity to meet and network with other trainees from around the UK. We will also have an after dinner speech from Professor Adele Fielding, with some reflections on her inspiring career, and practical tips about managing life in the lab, clinic and at home.
The course will be held on the 17-18th of May at the Sanger centre in Cambridge and has received pharma sponsorship so the cost to trainees is only £100 each including accommodation and dinner.
