Partnerships for Progress Terms and Conditions
The Partnership for Progress Grant is a match funded scheme designed to catalyse high‑quality, high‑impact haematology research across the UK. It offers flexible awards of up to £100,000 and leverages co‑funding from charities, academia, NHS organisations, professional bodies and industry, with up to 50% of the award permitted as in‑kind contributions.
Research is to be completed typically within 24 months.
You are required to uphold the highest standards of integrity in the conduct of your research. Should any research supported by this grant become subject to an investigation into potential scientific misconduct, you must notify us immediately. In such circumstances, we reserve the right to suspend funding.
If academic fraud or misconduct is subsequently identified in any publication arising from research funded by us, you must ensure that appropriate corrective action is taken, including the publication of errata, expressions of concern, or retractions, as applicable.
You are wholly responsible for the management, conduct and control of all research activities funded by the grant. Except in respect of death or personal injury resulting from our negligence, or arising from our fraud, we shall not be liable to any third party for any loss, damage, or liability arising in connection with the research funded by this grant or the publication of its results.
Where the grant funds the employment of staff by you, you shall be the employer of such staff and shall issue contracts of employment that comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. You shall be solely responsible, in your capacity as employer, for all claims, liabilities, and obligations arising out of or in connection with such employment. We shall not be responsible for, nor shall we indemnify you against, any such claims.
Grant funds will not be paid into personal bank accounts. All funds must be disbursed to institutional bank accounts only, and your institution shall ring‑fence the funds for exclusive use in the approved and named project.
You are responsible for ensuring that all information provided as part of your application is accurate, complete, and up to date. Where fraudulent, misleading, or materially incorrect information is provided, your application may be invalidated, and we reserve the right to require repayment of any funding already awarded.
You shall acknowledge our support in all publications and grant applications that arise from research funded by this grant.
We encourage the promotion of our organisation; however, you must obtain our explicit written consent on each occasion before making any statement about, or reference to, our grant support or our organisation in any document or other medium, or before using our name or logo.
You are required to submit an abstract to our Annual Scientific Meeting and may be required to present your research at BSH events, including the Annual Scientific Meeting, to promote both your research and the BSH grant programme. You may also be asked to participate in a short social media video highlighting your research and BSH’s work.
You shall submit a final report upon completion of the project, describing the research undertaken and providing a detailed financial breakdown of expenditure of the grant funds.
Where any funds remain unspent, we reserve the right to require their return. As part of our financial due‑diligence processes, we may also request copies of receipts or other evidence of expenditure.
Your photograph and a copy of your report may be used in our communications materials, including on our website and social media platforms. We may proofread the report and make minor grammatical or spelling corrections as necessary. Where substantive edits are required, we will seek your approval in advance. You may request that confidential information is excluded from publication or withdraw your consent for publication at any time.
