This is a recurring national AML MDT that has recently been initiated by the UK AML RN and will help to educate physicians in the management of AML, enable complex case discussion, streamline access to clinical trials and reduce treatment inequity across the country.

UK AMLRN National High-Risk AML MDT Launch:

On behalf of the UK AML RN Relapse Subgroup, we are pleased to announce the launch of the UK AMLRN National High-Risk AML MDT. This will take the form of an online MDT involving members of the UK AML RN and will operate similarly to the National ALL Panel.  AML, diagnostics and trial specialists will join the call. We hope that this initiative will improve and streamline management of relapsed AML across the country, reduce inequity of access to treatment, signpost to relevant trials and provide a sounding board for physicians managing complex cases. We will not be expecting to discuss every relapsed AML case but will focus on complex cases that have exhausted standard of care options.  The ToR attached includes a flow diagram to describe the referral pathway and case exclusions that will be applied, if appropriate.

We have held a pilot meeting with members of the UK AML RN on Friday 22nd May, which has allowed us to test the referral pathway and format – we appreciate there may still be teething issues going forwards but overall the meeting was well-received and attendees (including trainees) found it open and informative.

Our next meeting will take place on Thursday 4th June 2026, 13:00–14:00. Meetings will alternate between Friday 1200-1300 and Thursday 1300-1400 on a fortnightly basis – the next meeting after that will be on Friday 19th June at 1200.
